Travel & Local Information

Airports

Phoenix Sky Harbor (PHX) is about 100 miles from Tucson. Although we recommend flying into Tucson directly, there is a shuttle from Phoenix to Tucson: Arizona Shuttle.

Tucson International Airport (TUS) is 10 miles south of Tucson.

Child Care

The University of Arizona recommends Trusting Connections, a local, short-term nanny service. Phone: 520-544-6612; website: https://trustingconnections.com/hotel-sitters/

Eating out

Several restaurants, 5-10 minutes walk from ILC, can be found on University Blvd. which is immediately West of campus. There is also a food court in the Student Union (closed however on Sunday). On 4th Avenue, there are other places, but they are a longer walk.

Parking

The parking garage closest to ILC 70 (the building where the conference will take place) is Cherry Ave. The garage is at the corner of Cherry Ave and Enke Dr. Here is a map. Parking is free on weekends and $8 per day otherwise.

There are regular buses running from TUS; it takes ~45 minutes to Euclid Ave/12th Street (line 25), and ~1:15 minutes to Speedway Ave/Campbell Ave (two buses with a stop in between), which are within 15 minutes walking to UA campus.  Cost of a trip is 2$.  Consult  this page to see the routes and timings. Also, you can click on "Plan Your Trip" here and type in "Airport-Tucson International" and the destination to see lines, combinations and their timings.

We do not recommend the buses after dark.

Taxi

To get to the hotel, we recommend taking a taxi rather than using the Arizona Stagecoach shared van service (see below). A taxi should be around $30. If you have not arranged it in advance, look for participants who might want to share a ride when you arrive.
